This is where it all started... a little scrapbook This is where it all started... a little scrapbooking and stationery store in Duvall, Washington.

This shop (called Pages) was my first business adventure and what planted the entrepreneur seed in me that continued to grow for the next 15 years! This shop didn't last long -- maybe 3 years? My sister and I were running this shop with babies and toddlers - and when my sister had her fourth kiddo we decided it time to move on. But I learned SO MUCH from this experience. I was purchasing products from small business owners and artisans/designers who were designing and wholesaling greeting cards and rubber art stamps. So my next business was designing my own line of rubber art stamps for the craft & hobby industry. I started this biz with an illustrator friend of mine and our company was called Lizzie Anne Designs. We were in biz for about 10 years and very successful!

So now you know the roots behind my THIRD and current creative business--Spicewood & Rose. As well as a few other businesses (I just started a digital marketing biz with a friend called @werockdm). My businesses allow me to keep the creative juices flowing and my brain learning new things... a huge part of who I am. 😊

I am often asked what the first steps are in starting a new business, and my advice is to JUST DO IT and don't be afraid of failure. You are going to learn something no matter what, and you can apply what you've learned to future businesses and keep getting better and better at running a biz.

I have such great memories of this little shop and all the people I met here too -- I made many life-long friends here! think our neon sign (swipe left) is still in my sisters garage. 😂
